On the western edge of the Julian Alps lies Bled, with its picturesque island in the middle of the lake. The town and its surroundings have been an international summer resort for centuries. The region has to a large extent retained its natural character.

Lake Bled is renowned for its exceptional beauty. The forested slopes of the Jelovica and Pokljuka, the Julian Alps with their highest peak Triglav - the symbol of the Slovenian nation - and the Karavanke Mountains, serve as the background to this heavenly spot.
In the middle of the lake lies the island with the Church of the Assumption. The island and the church have a rich history. Inside the church there is the wishing bell from 1534.
