Novo mesto is picturesque Town on the Krka River and is the Capital of Dolenjska Region - it is also known as a Birthplace of Leon Štukelj, our first Olympic Medal Winner in Gymnastics.

There is a "Dolenjski muzej" (a Museum) there with a rich collection of finds from the Iron Age burial mounds.
